Hi, I am Prince Odame

I build product platforms at scale.

A software engineer with 9+ years of experience building high-traffic, business-critical systems. I specialize in backend and platform architecture, distributed systems, and end-to-end product engineering across backend, web, and mobile.

I focus on turning complex product requirements into reliable, evolvable systems that operate under real-world constraints.

Prince Odame

I build the systems that products stand on: backend platforms, real-time and distributed systems, and the APIs other teams build against. Nine years of it, from support platforms at Wolt to fleets of robots at Blue Ocean Robotics to an industrial AI product at Applied Computing.

The part I care about is not the first version. It is what happens when someone else has to rely on the thing. So I spend my time on the boundaries: contracts, data models, what breaks and how it recovers.

I trained as a computer engineer and still think like one, down to the packet when needed and up to the product when it matters. I live in Odense, Denmark.

@ Applied Computingappliedcomputing.com

Apr 2026 - Present · Remote, UK
  • Worked on the product experience for Orbital, Applied Computing's AI platform for industrial operations, evolving the UX through which users interact with its AI capabilities.
  • Established the company's AI-assisted engineering platform, using tools including Claude Code to enable parallel development workflows through isolated Git worktrees and reproducible local environments.
  • Led an engineering maturity initiative across Python and TypeScript codebases by introducing static typing, automated quality gates, CI enforcement, and modern development standards.
  • Established a contract-first backend/frontend integration model using OpenAPI-generated clients with automated compatibility validation to prevent API regressions.
  • Re-engineered a PDF export pipeline to produce publication-quality vector documents with accurate rendering of charts, maps, SVGs, and other rich visualisations.
  • Drove adoption of modern observability practices through Sentry, expanded Grafana monitoring, and strengthened dependency health through proactive Renovate automation.

@ Woltwolt.com

June 2022 - Mar 2026 · Remote, Finland
  • Led the design and delivery of a high-traffic Support Layer platform serving Customer, Courier, and Merchant experiences across multiple markets under strict reliability and operational constraints.
  • Designed the platform's domain and data model from the ground up, primarily on MongoDB, supporting configurable decision-driven workflows and integrations with Postgres-backed systems.
  • Designed and evolved a backend-driven UI framework powered by a decision-tree engine, enabling dynamic user flows and backend-controlled behavior while decoupling frontend implementation.
  • Owned the long-term architecture and evolution of the platform, balancing scalability, configurability, product needs, and operational risk as the system grew.
  • Contributed to the design and development of a multi-platform Server-Driven UI SDK powering Support Layer experiences across Customer, Courier, and Merchant apps, built around a headless, framework-agnostic TypeScript core.
  • Integrated backend services with production machine learning inference systems, enabling automated decision flows while ensuring reliability, observability, and safe fallback behavior.

@ Hims & Hershimsandhers.com

Apr 2022 - Jan 2026 · Remote, US
  • Joined the mobile engineering team while the Hims & Hers mobile application was still being built, helped develop it from the ground up, and continued to work on the product as it matured over the following years.
  • Built and evolved the production React Native application, adding nearly four years of sustained production React Native experience on a large consumer product.
  • Worked on the backend-for-frontend used by both the mobile and web teams: a NestJS application exposing a GraphQL API, acting as the client-facing layer between those applications and the underlying Hims & Hers backend services.
  • Worked across the boundary between mobile and backend engineering, on both the React Native client and the server-side layer supporting product experiences on mobile and web.
